In favor of allowing assisted suicideAssisted suicide is a contentious moral and political issue in many countries. Many countries still is having an argument with assisted suicide. Patients who couldn’t revive anymore can choose assisted suicide in the large. Therefore, supporter of opposition assisted suicide claim that assisted suicide should be illegal because it is a violation law of nature, family has to overcome their suffering together as member of family, and it makes immorality death can spread in the world because we don’t have safe devices for protecting abuse and misuse. Even if we can have causes and problems, we can overcome these problems. Therefore, I argue assisted suicide should be legal because convenient death is more valuable than suffering from medical treatment with no hope, what they use every surgery and many times to maintain life of terminal patients with no hope is not inefficient ,and if it can be legal, terminal patient’s organ transplant can be used to other patients. I’ll argue why I’m in favor of allowing assisted suicide.

First, I’m in favor of allowing assisted suicide because I think patient who can’t live anymore can choose their death comfortably is better than suffering from disease forever. I think convenient death is more valuable than suffering from medical treatment with no hope. If terminal patients can decide their death, they and their family can prepare remained time and can spend happy time. When we go hospital, we can see terminal patients with no hope. They seem like painful as suffering from a fatal disease. If you are them, what is the better?

Second, when patients can’t revive anymore, what they use every surgery and many times to maintain their life is not inefficient. EX) time and economical- 1) hospital cost 2) and family’s suffering ( They have to use their income for curing and their life can be ruin)

Third, if assisted suicide can be legal, terminal patient’s organ transplant can be used to other patients. Ex) there are many patient who can die because they couldn’t find some organs.

However, opponents of assisted suicide persist assisted suicide should be illegal. First, what is takes people’s life by artificial means is a violation law of nature. Let’s think as other side, and then what people prolong their life as poisonous medicine is a violation law of nature.

Second, family has to overcome their suffering together as member of family. People think family is an important and valuable existence. Thus, we have a sense of duty as ethics and morals. It is only when we think about patients. Have you ever thought about patient’s family? Suffering of their family is too large, though. The family may ruin their life because they have to concentrate to take care of terminal patient.

Third, if assisted suicide should be legal, immorality death can spread in the world because we don’t have safe devices for protecting abuse and misuse. It can be true because some immorality people may sell their organs and most people want assisted suicide easily. However, we can make a law of protecting abuse and misuse of assisted suicide. For example, we can make a law that equipment and medicines for assisted suicide should have only government. For another instance, we make a law that an applicant of assisted suicide should be donated their organs to a medical service company or a medical college after decision about assisted suicide. If we make this law, people can’t do an illegal bargain organs of patient choose assisted suicide.

In conclusion, even if we can have causes and problems, we can overcome these problems. Therefore, I’m in favor of allowing assisted suicide.

When I came to USA at first time, I lived in Kulhavi Tower which is one of dorms in CMU. I had 4 roommates at that time. 2 people were Americans and 1 person was Korean. However, we couldn’t conneted with each other frequently because each room is isolated and we could share only livingroom. After half of one semeter, my Koran frined was gone to Korea and one American was gone to other place. Therefore, it remained only one American girl and me in the dorm at that time, but we couldn’t see each other becuase she didn’t go outside; she always was in her room. Hence, we couldn’t become intimate, and I had to move to other dorm in fall semester because I couldn’t be there on vacation. I moved SAXE hall which is one of dorms in CMU. I had four roommates. In this dorm, we had to live with one person, that is, two people had to use one room. So, four people use one living room and each two people use one room. Four people were American in our room except by me. I was happy becuase it is a chance for learning English. We got along well until now. however, Oneday my roommate said she will move to another dorm. when I heard that, I was sad. at that time, my roommate said you don’t have to worry because we had to connect with each other. however, I was sad. however, I’m happy now because I could use the big room alone after she moved other place my friends always came to my room without rein. One another good thing is that I can meet my roommate once every week because we eat luch together in cafeteria. I can use the big room comfortable and I can keep in touch with my roommate. Therefore, I’m so happy now. I think it is jsut catching two pigeons with one bean.

I had a form resolution that I will think, speak, listen, and see only as English. However, one day, I really wanted to watch the television program of Korea and talk to Korean, and it got weakened in my resolution. I think all students who study on aboard will undergo homesick. Before I came to USA, I thought I could live in other country permanently. however, I think it will be difficult to me in other country permanently because I felt I can’t live apart to my friends and parents. I think people who live in foreign country seems like a great people because they have endured homesick until now. I think it is a good experience in my life.

My major is home-economics education, but I’m interested in an advertisement now. When I was junior in my university in Korea, I saw some paper which is attached on the wall. It was a collusion of an advertisement for university students. I suddenly aroused a curiosity about it, so I decided to try to doing the collusion. That was quite a revelation to me. I made some advertisement which was the collusion. I couldn’t do and know it well because my major was not advertisement. however, I enjoyed it and had a happy time. After submitting the collusion, I learned about advertisement. Taking that opportunity, I really wanted to learn advertisement. My dream is changed. I want to be a creative director in advertising agency. I’m happy to find my dream. If I just passed by the paper which is attached on the wall, I couldn’t be interested in advertisement. I think some discovery can make a chance. Therefore, I always would like to open my eyes and ears. If I do that, I believe that I can find precious things.

Effects of Reducing Class Size

Nowadays, gradually class size has been reduced. It is trend in education system today. When it was 1980s, there were about 50 students in one class in Korea. Teacher couldn’t concentrate to each student and students also couldn’t participate many times in their class at that time. However, there are many effects in a small size class. If there are a few students in a class, teacher can be concerned about and can control each student, and it makes concentrate and participation increase in a class. Teacher and students also can have a discussion teaching, and it communication improve in a small size class. In additional, students can have community consciousness in a small size class, and it helps stability of students’ emotion.

First, if there are a few students in a class, teacher can be concerned about and can control each student. Teacher is one, and students are a large number. If there are many students in a class, one teacher can’t pay attention to each student. Supposed that there are 50 students in a laboratory work and one teacher have to confirm their experiment whether they do it or not. At that time, teacher can’t confirm all students. Suppose to the reverse situation. If there are 25 students in a class, teacher can control students in a short time.

Second, teacher and students also can have a discussion teaching in a small size. For example, if there are 50 students in a class, all students can’t speak own opinion because class time is limited. However, if there are about 25 students in a class, teacher and students can conversation education, not the cramming education because they can participate in a class easily. Students in a small size can express their thought easier than students in big size class. Activity discussion education makes communication skill improve. Therefore, communication ability of students who is in a small class is better than students in a large class.

If I have to describe my self in a word, I’d like to say that I am a woman of passion. I don’t think I have superb ability, but I think I have a passion about learning. When I was 23 years old, I went to India with my friend because I had desired to travel to various countries. After finishing my trip, I realized English is very important and is required everywhere. Also I thought I would need it for work in an advertising company which I want to work in. So I came to CMU to begin studying English. However, it was hard to decide to come here because I should have graduated in my university in my country. Eventually, I decided it, and I came here. I always want to learn about many things that I like, and I do my best while doing it. After finishing my study of English, my dream is to learn to speak other languages and then work in many countries. Even if I don’t have magnificent ability now, I believe I’ll be successful in my life because I have passion.

1. Describe in detail one piece of writing that you have done in English. It could be a class assignment, a letter, a story, etc. Tell me the process that you used in writing it; in other words, how did you go about the task? Then tell me what you enjoyed about it and what was difficult. Remember to explain why.

When I came to CMU at first time, I started to write diary in English, but it does not a long time. First of reasons is that it was difficult to write in English. Second of reasons is that it was bored the daily routine. I always wrote same contents. For example, ‘I went to OIE, and I went to Music building to play the piano’…etc..It was so bored and there is not person who can revise grammar in my diary at that time. Even if I use an incorrect grammar, I couldn’t know that. I realized that it could not help me, so I decided to wrote two essays for one week. I think it will be help to writing skill.

2. Do you enjoy writing in your native language? Why? or why not?

What do you write in your native language?

Yes, I enjoy writing in Korean which is my native language because it is easy to write something. Also, I always enjoy writing something.

I wrote diary in my note, and whenever I go to travel, I always wrote travel story with my pen and my paper.

3. Have you ever kept a diary or journal? Explain.

I have kept my diary until now. I had written a diary until 13 years old because it was my homework in my elementary school. However, after graduated high school, I had written my diary because I liked to document something. When I go to travel, I always bring my diary. When I came to U.S.A, I also bring it. I have written diary until today. As time goes by, I will read it. When I read it, I will be exciting, and I can reminisce of my childhood memory.

4. What do you feel is the most important thing you want to learn from this class?

I want to learn writing skill in this class. I couldn’t write essay perfectly on time now. I think writing is an important part because it is one of methods to express own thought. I think if I can do writing well, I can do speaking well. Now days, what own thought should be expressed exactly is important. Hence, I think it is important what we express own thought in a short time.
